Help !!!!!
 

I have a Dell Precision 650 n workstation which had preinstalled RH v. 9 Linux
installed. Recently, my workstation had "problems", it ran quite slow, mozilla would not start (I did not install/uninstall or do any update). I did try to install some scientific software (which are supposed to work fine) - may be I goofed up some place. Essentially, I lost all data on the '/' directory. When I went to the / directory, I found it empty!!!!

The only option I had was to reinstall Linux just on the partitions which contained the boot and root files. I left the other partitions untouched. However, when I reboot w/ the new setup, I do not find the old data. Are those files gone for good? When I used disk druid during install, I did see the lv_data directory (on which I stored the data) and another partition which it says as "Linux Native" the disk space of which is approximately the remainder of the hard disk apart from the root and the boot directory. The thing I am wondering is if I can actually access my data or is it all lost!

Any help/advice you can give will be very very helpful. If you need any further information, please let me know.

You need to add the other partition's entries
to your /etc/fstab ...

You need to decide on a decent subject for your threads in the future. A thread title like "Help!!!!" is one of the worst ever. It's basically saying "ignore this thread".
