Question hda: partition check

I have Quantum Fireball L15 hardrive.
I've tried to install Redhat 7.3, but at pre intallation fase there was "hda: partition check" line after which installation stoped, and I had to use reset button because nothing else worked.

I tried to start installation with all sorts of options but the same thing happened.

I had Mandrake 8.0 version working on the same hard drive. I did not have same error, but I had DMA timeout messages every time I boot Linux.

Does anyone have any ideas what may cause this.

Thank you in advance
