This is probably a newbie question, but if you can help that would be great.

I've setup an FTP server on a Linux 9.0 using ProFtpd Server. I'm using Webmin as my interface to manage this system.

When I first installed Linux I did not select the built in FTP server, since I was going to ProFtpd. I show in my services to allow incoming FTP, HTTP, TELNET.

After installing Linux and configuring it for network connectivity. I installed Webmin without any problems. Installed ProFtpd Server and tweak it according to their readme file.

Now, this is where it gets strange. I can access the FTP server as myself, however when I create a new account, that user can't access the FTP server. The error code is 530 Can't login.

So, what am I doing wrong?

I fixed "my problem".

Solution:

I didn't choose a home directory for the user. After selecting the directory. The user was able to FTP.
