Question Hardware conf (!!!)

Hi all!

Could someone please advise me how to configure my video and sound card in Slackware 8.1? It shows that i have Vesa Framebuffer ?

Sound: Intel 82801/BA/BAM Ac'97 Audio Controller
Video: Intel 82815 Graphics Controller (4MB)

Maybe I should download some drivers, or decoment modules in /etc/rc.d/rc.modules?

??????? Please help

Thanks in advance!

I thought we covered this in a previous post:

Your graphics card is using the i815 chipset which is supported by your version of Slack. Just configure using the xf86config command to get you going, be sure to select the correct card and memory size.. and everything else for your monitor.. etc.

For your sound, this has been asked so many times, I'm getting tired of seeing that sort of sound card to get to work in Linux here.. do a search on that sound card, I swear you'll find a days worth of reading on it here.

Just to be able to easily point this one out next time this is asked, I have "rated" this thread.

I would maybe type "intel" or "integrated intel" and see what comes up. Or you could type "i8x0_audio" and see.

It's cool, it's different, it's free, it's an alternative, and most of all:

It configured all of my hardware very easily, and runs very fast.

If you have some time, it's fun to try.

Cool
