Hard to install unicode support?
How hard is it to install unicode support in Linux? Both of the server management companies I talked to have no idea what it is or how to install it. So I have to do it myself.
So far I've changed the locale but have no idea how to install these fonts. I extracted them in the fonts folder and added the folder with chkfontpath but it is not working. Did I miss a step somewhere? These are the fonts I am trying to install: http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/downl...s-fonts.tar.gz http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/downl...s-asian.tar.gz http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/downl...i100dpi.tar.gz |
Fonts go in to the /usr/share/fonts folder... most distros offer outta-the-box unicode support. What distro are u using?
|
mkfontdir?
Which distro are we talking about, unicode support is usually built in. |
Using cent os 3.5
I did put the fonts in there /usr/share/fonts But do I also need to install console unicode fonts? |
If you want console unicode support to need to change the console font to one that supports unicode (duh) but im not sure where in centos is that config file.
|
I am aware that I need to change the font, but I don't know where to get that font and what file to edit.
