Hard drive problems

Hi can any one help me out please

I have an 80 gig hard drive i wish to spit into two, one for linux and one for XP

The hard drive is now NTFS Seggate barr ST380011A 80gig

How can i format the hard drive the hole drive to fat 32 so i can spilt the hard drive

NTFS seems to be giving me nothing trouble.

When i tried to format the hard drive using a win 98 disk it only does 10gig worth.

I downloaded the disk for the hard drive so XP will see 80gig, but it formats the System to NTFS only i.

is there a way to format it at FAT32

Have you tried deleting the partitions first?

Use a Windows 98 boot diskette that has the program fdisk. Use fdisk to delete all partitions, then make a primary partition of whatever size you want, then an extended partition with a logical DOS drive.

After you have created the partitions, then reboot the machine, boot with the floppy again, and format the partitions "format C:\" and "format D:\"

This will format them as FAT32. If you try to format with FAT32 overtop of a NTFS partition without deleting the partition first you will have problems.
