Hard drive not detected , how to retrieve partition table???

Hi if some one has any solution to this....my system has five hard drives hda, hdb, sda, sdb and md0... out of these md0 is being used for data storage and mounted in /storage...hda and hdb have linux raid system installed and does not give any file system when i check with fdisk ...hda and hdb both are 500 gb disks ...i wanted hda to be accessible on my linux so created a partition hda1 with ext3 file system and modified the partition table. what happened now is that i cant get in to GUI of linux.
fsck.ext3: Invalid argument while trying to open /dev/md0 [FAILED]

*** An error occurred during the file system check.
*** Dropping you to a shell; the system will reboot.
*** When you leave the shell.
*** Warning -- SELinux is active.
*** Disabling security enforcement for system recovery.
*** Run 'setenforce 1' to reenable.

Give root password for maintenance
(or type Control-D for normal startup):

when i do fdisk -l, md0 is now not detected. Also /storage gives zero size..im stuck up with the Repair file system1# prompt... when i do e2fsck it gives me the following message:

The superblock could not be read or does not describe ext2 filesystem. if the device is valid and it really contains an ext2 filesystem, then the superblock is corrupt, and you might try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock: e2fsck -b 8193 <device>....when i access vi /etc/fstab its empty...if this has happened due to a modified partition table then any possibilities how to retrieve the old table??

what to do now in this scenario??? if some one could help here??

Many Thanks

That was probably a very bad idea. It's possible you have lost data - what type of RAID was it ?.

You can probably get around this by commenting out the line for /storage from /etc/fstab (edit from a liveCD). That should allow you to at least boot - then you can start investigating how much data you've lost. If it's RAID1 you may even come up degraded and can use just the single disk to get you back up and running.

the RAID machine we have here was shutdown some time ago and was disconnected completely from all network. hence here on my system im not able to access those two hard drives with raid system installed (as ive mentioned before)... therefore the hard drive is somehow safe only i did changes with my own system linux...im confused if some other linux system can use that hard drive without an issue??? please comment...

Also the changes were done with hda but what im not able to get is md0.. now that the partition table was modified and md0 is not detectable, is there a way to get it running??? please comment

many thanks.....
