HALDAEMON/ halt-rebooting problems

Hi,

See, for some reason that doesnt come to the case i moved to my home directory the "haldaemon" file from /etc/init.d, i rebootted and then, when the computer is going for reboot (for shutting down too), it just FREEZE, this is happening when i hit "lock" too.. i thought it had something to do with the "moving file" thing, i put it back to /etc/init.d but the problem persist. is there any file that changed when the file was moved? is there something i can do? Does someone know if this action (moving that daemon) had something to do?

thanks.

Its possible its not executable if your "mv" commands were from one filesystem to another (/etc being part of root and /home often being a separate filesystem). In that case though you execute "mv" it actually does a copy instead. This is because "mv" simply renames the inode when its still on the same filesystem but has to use a new inode on a separate filesystem.

Make sure the file in /etc/init.d has same ownership and permissions as other files.

Also typically /etc/init.d files are not called directly but via symbolic links under /etc/rc?.d - did you by any chance move/remove any of those?
