Hack attacks?

How secure is Linux? I’m reading a lot about defacements and hack attacks on Linux lately, I thought it was supposed to be secure???

eeessshhh what an open statement......

Out of the box most versions of linux are far superior to MS for security. Now, it depeneds on the user and application. ALL OS'es have security weakness if misconfigured and un-patched.

And just because some script-kiddie defaces a website, that does not constitiute a "hack". A savy "hacker", or "explorer" if you will, get in and out and no one ever knows. Someone who defaces is more like a person who spray paints road signs, a real "hacker" as they are called are more like cat-theives. By the time you figure out they were there it is too late.

IMHO defacing is childish and useless.
