Question GRUB Remote Console via USB

I have a remote console working via USB by setting the appropriate parameters in inittab. However I would like to see the boot process on the remote console and to do that I need to redirect the display from GRUB rather than wait for the services to be launched from the OS. It can be done using the RS-232 ports but I have found no info on using USB when initiating the remote console from GRUB. Anyone ever do this?
