Grub Problem...

I have Windows XP,Fedora Core 3 dual boot problem,I reinstalled GRUB after a XP Installation by entering rescue mode & using GRUB command line

grub>root (hd0,2) grub>setup (hd0,0)

After rebooting GRUB is restored but while trying to boot windows i get "Disk Error".Fixmbr in rescue mode & even reinstalling XP doesn't works.
I have researched for quite some time before posting here. This issue has been mentioned for Fedora Core 2 in Bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla....cgi?id=115980
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla....cgi?id=113201
This issue is caused by the hard disk geometry as reported in the partition table to be altered during installation. This change cause Windows boot failure. The problem is that Windows demands a "sane" CHS table. This table has been altered by Fedora Core and Windows hangs.
A workaround has been suggested to restore LBA partition table at

http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedor.../msg00908.html

As mentioned in above link i tried

$sfdisk -d /dev/hda > MyPartitionTable.txt $cat MyPartitionTable.txt | sfdisk --no-reread -H255 /dev/hda

It failed on Fedora Core even when using --force option saying the disk is busy.I booted Knoppix & did the same there, this time it worked. But once again even after doing a Fixmbr & even Re-installing XP the problem persists.
Sorry for the long post but i wanted to b clear.
Thanx in advance

I am aware of the geometry problem and believe this happens mainly on older hard disks, say no bigger than 80Gb. Not met it myself but I believe it is to do with Windows read it in one CHS setting while Linux, seems to be mostly related to FC3 & Fc4, does it in another setting.

Can't be sure if it works but if you install Linux first, create a NTFS partition to install Windows later then it should be possible to force Windows installer to accept the disk geometry created by Linux. If Windows installer could not find the created NTFS partition then my suggestion is void.
