Grub killed Windows XP! How can I fix it?

Well, I installed Fedora 4, and in this installation I installed grub boot loader, with default options. And now I can get into linux (yay), but if I try to start windows, my computer starts to load XP, and then suddenly reboots. And it doesn't matter if I pick safe mode.

I hope I don't sound like I'm complaining (why complain? the damage is already done.) I'm just wondering (and hoping) if anyone knows what happened, so I can avoid this problem in the future.

And if you know what happened, can my XP installation be fixed, so I don't have to reinstall everything?

Thanks in advance.

If it starts to load then it doesn't sound like a bootloader (grub) problem to me. Did you resize the windows partition with linux during the install or delete or wipe any partitions? Maybe the windows install was damaged? May be fixable by making a linux rescue boot CD/floppy (for when you want to boot linux again) and then try a restore or repair with the windows XP CD... This will get rid of grub, which is why you want the linux boot CD/floppy... Some install CD's have this option built in. Not sure about FC4...
