GRUB install

Hi all,

I need help to install grub from source.

- I download GRUB 1.90 and run the following command to install -
# tar xzvf grub-1.90.tar.gz
# cd grub-1.90
# ./configure --prefix=/usr

It gives an error after configure as below:
configure: error: LZO library version 1.02 or later is required

Then I download LZO 2.01 and install LZO by running the following commands:
# ./configure --prefix=/usr --enable-shared &&
make

# make install &&
install -v -m755 -d /usr/share/doc/lzo-2.01 &&
install -v -m644 doc/* /usr/share/doc/lzo-2.01

There is no error in installing LZO.

I install GRUB again and it gives the same error
'configure: error: LZO library version 1.02 or later is required'
after I type ./configure --prefix=/usr to configure the package

I already installed LZO, but why it still gives an error.

Try installing the 1.x version of the required dependency.

Also do a search for "lzo" on your drive; maybe the old version is still around and the new version wasn't actually installed overtop of it, or maybe there's some symlinks lying around that still point to the old version.

Run "ldconfig" (without quotes) as root after installing a new library.

I have searched for 'lzo', there is only one vesion of lzo, i.e. the one that I installed.

I reinstall the lzo and then run 'ldconfig' after it.

Then I install the grub again. It still gives the same error
'configure: error: LZO library version 1.02 or later is required'
after I type ./configure --prefix=/usr to configure the package

Grub LZO Solution

Hi
To solve this (1) lzo-1.08 was downloaded from
http://www.oberhumer.com/opensource/...wnload/LZO-v1/
2) ./configure, make & make install lzo with no additional options.
3) run "configure" for grub.

Hope this helps
G
