Grub has disappeared


Yep.. Thats right.. I only have the option to boot into windows should I reinstall grub? or edit the boot.ini any help would be appreciated thanks

It sounds like you reinstalled windows.

Now you have multiple choice, one is boot from a rescue CD or LiveCD, mount the linux partition, chroot to it, run grub-install to reinstall grub. Another way is using application like grub4dos to boot into linux then reinstall grub, but I have no experience with that.

My windows partition was exucse the language fucking up. So i put the windows XP disk in and changed my mind without installing/deleting anything I rebooted and grub was gone.

boot the pc with the bootable cd of ur distro

then select rescue mode : the command is 'linux rescue'

then chroot into the image : the command is 'chroot /mnt/sysimage'

then install grub: the command is 'grub-install /dev/hda'

grub should be restored when u reboot ur comp
