No, it is not urgent, and people here will respond when they get around to it. Please do not put this in posts.

I cannot follow what you are saying---for example, what does this mean?:

and grub is there in my fedora partition since i recently only installed arch
Anytime that you install Linux, there will be some options for installing the bootloader. The default is to put the bootloader in the MBR and not in a partition.

I'll GUESS what might be happening: You installed Arch and it put the bootloader in the MBR, and the config file (menu.lst) in the /boot directory. Then you erased the Arch partition. This means that grub cannot find the config file.

If my GUESS is right, then you have at least two options:
1. Use a live CD to reinstall GRUB and tie it to the desired config file.
2. Use the grub command line to get into one of the Linux installs

Please clarify what the current state is, and which option you would like to pursue.

Let me explain what might have happened.

At the time when you had only Fedora and Xp the Fedora's Grub was dual booting the two systems.

When you installed Archlinux you allowed its installer to place Grub in the MBR. Therefore the 3 systems were booted by Archlinux's Grub. When you formatted the Archlinux partition you nuked away its Grub and there is no connection between the MBR and the formatted empty partition, so no Grub files and the PC would not boot. So that is what it should do. Do you expect anything different?

You can restore Grub according to Pixellany's two suggestions.

Fedora's Grub can be restored by any Linux Live CD. The commands in "root" console, assuming the /boot of Fedora is in the second partition known to Grub as (hd0,1), will be
Code:
grub
root (hd0,1)
setup (hd0)
quit
reboot
The word "urgent" can have the effect of broadcasting the mistake you have made! Since everybody makes mistakes therefore people would not understand why your mistake is more urgent than the others.

bashphoenux,

You actually did very well because a cure could be formulated based on your acurate description. It just told us the mistake is self inflicted. It is not uncommon to delete a partition with a resident boot loader but you were aware of it so it is a credit to you.

Normally if you install an operating system over your Archlinux partition the installer will format it for you and Grub will be replaced by another Grub (or another boot loader) so you wouldn't have a booting problem at all. You might have wanted the use the Archlinux area for data storage and forgot about using its Grub to triple boot.
