GRUB for LINUX to boot dual system

I am new here for linux. I tried to install a dual boot for Linux and XP by using GRUB but I can't make it work.
I got 4 different partion

hd1 XP
hd2 boot
hd3 swap
hd4 root

I installed GRUB to hd2 instead of MBR. When I restart my computer, I always got to boot with XP and if I would like to get into Linux, I have to use flopy disk to boot.

Can any one help me here? How can I make a dual boot work?
I used to use linux a few year ago and I used lilo: I just entered dos or linux to boot a system. How can I make it work with GRUB?

The problem is thw windows boot loader is loading instead of grub since you didnt install grub in the mbr. If you want to boot both systems just install grub to the mbr and grub will take care of the rest.

To install to mbr is something like this but am not sure since am not on linux right now.

grub-install /dev/hda

if that doesnt work

man grub-install

or ill post later for the exact command
