grub dual boot ubuntu/windows

I just installed Ubuntu 6.10 (Edgy) and it boots fine.

However when i went to boot windows xp grub says "Invalid device requested..."

Ubuntu and windows XP are both installed on a 500GB sata2 drive. Windows is located at /dev/sda5

this is the portion of the menu.lst file contains the windows boot section

title Windows XP Pro
root (hd0,4)
makeactive
chainloader +1

pls tell me if your bootloader prior to grub allowed you to boot into MS where it was on sda5 or have you made changes?

2) if no changes other than bootloader follow my tutorial on how to trick ms with the map command something like

title XP
root (hd0,4)
map (hd0,0) (hd0,4)
map (hd0,4) (hd0,0)
makeactive
chainloader +1
