Grub crashed?
Hello,
I have a brand new Acer E1-472G laptop, installed Win 7 and CentOS 6.6.
The installation is done successfully, but after the reboot, I cannot use up/down arrow to select the OS in GRUB, the highlight bar are not responding. I can only boot the OS by enter grub command line.
At the beginning, I thought maybe this problem will be solved by reinstall OS, so I delete all of the partitions, and reinstall Win 7 and CentOS 6.6 but no luck.
Grub screen:
Press 'e':
Press 'a':
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

And given that bootloader is no longer maintained, better to try the latest version of CentOS to get grub2 - much more likely to work with new equipment.

Some of software are only supported CentOS/RHEL version 6, so I cannot upgrade the OS version.
Is there any way to upgrade the grub on CentOS 6?
Thanks

Somebody built it from source according to this.
A quick google implies it's not in the official repos, but may be available elsewhere. I don't have an old CentOS handy to check.

Thanks for your help.
This issue has been fixed by using Windows 7 boot loader instead of grub.
When choosing CentOS, the Windows 7 boot loader will call CentOS grub.

Just be careful if updates come in - unlikely I know for 6.6. If CentOS thinks grub is in the MBR it will refresh it, and break the Win7 loader.
Should be just a niggle to watch for.
