grip problems ripping cd (looks like it works but doesnt)

I just downloaded and installed the newest version of grip and I cant get it to rip or encode my cd. It looks like it is working, but just goes way too fast (will rip and encode a cd in about 30 seconds). I checked the permissions on the write directory and changed them all to rwx. Has anyone else had similar problems? Thanks for any input!

edit: Here is some input when run with --verbose

Added track 14 to pending list
Rip partial 0 num wavs 14
Next track is 14, total is 14
Check if we need to rip another track
In RipNextTrack
First checked track is 15
Enc track 1
No free cpus

Does it do this on all cd's or just one? If its just one cd, is it a protected cd possibly?

Don't know if this would be related to your problem, but thing I've come across that's peculiar (or maybe it's just peculiar me) is if I run grip straight out, mark all the tracks to rip, it jumps a good few tracks and misses them out, however if I play the cd for a second in a cd player, stop it, exit then run grip it works fine.

I found out that it is a permissions issue, if I run as root it works fine. Not sure why, but if anyone has any input it would be much appreciated :)
