Green Links in RedHat 9.09 (Severn)
 

I got Red Hat 9.09 (Severn) working on VMWare 4.0, and I'm noticing that every single hyperlink everywhere is green, no matter what I do or set or change anywhere. In Mozilla and Konquerer and Lynx, both KDE and Gnome, even if the link color is set to something else. Occasionally, I can get it to appear in its designated colour if I scroll the link off the page, and back on slowly, but it soon goes back. If link underlining is turned on, the underline shows up correctly; but the link itself a bright green (visited links are a darker green, and have exactly the same problem.

Any ideas?

By the way, the trick to installing on VMWare is, when you get an error saying that a package is corrupted or missing, go File >> Install VMWare Tools, and then go File >> Cancel Installing VMWare Tools. Then click "OK" on trying to install the package again.

well many people probably don't have redhat 9.0.93 installed, so i would have to say your wait time for a response is going to take a little longer...all you have to remember is that this distro is still in its beta stages, so this could be some weird feature, or some bug or whatever it may be.

you can report it or check for the bug reports for the problem since it is beta

I am running Gentoo on VMWare 4, and have the same problem...I think it may be fixed by setting your color depth of X to the same color depth of Windows (or your host OS)...its a palette problem. I haven't been able to restart X yet, but if your Host operating system's color depth is set to, say, 32 bit the VMWare tools install sets the X server to a default of 24bits. Edit your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file, scroll down to the part where it says display and change it to something like this:

Subsection "Display"
Depth 32
Modes "1280x1024"
ViewPort 0 0
EndSubsection

There should be a bunch of those, just change the resolution or resolutions you use to the same bit-depth as your host OS and I think you'll be alright. Restart X. Hope it works.
