graphics with no X

Hi there i want to make my console as colorful as it gets.... I want probably to put a picture on the corner of the monitor... I was wondering if it is possible to provide some nice colors and pictures without using X server at all....
Also i want to find how in my debian the tux appears in the top of my screen and how i can change him...
Do u have any suggestion in mind?
Thx a lot ! Have a nice day

you can display graphics from the console using the framebuffer...

your bootloader's will let you select wheather to use the framebuffer or not... tux is usually displayed when the framebuffer is selected...

Some apps, like links2 and mplayer can use svgalib to obtain full color graphics on the framebuffer console.
It can get buggy and complicated though -- I tried it briefly, but really don't have any other knowledge to give you :)

As far as your own picture in the corner, I know it's possible to replace the normal tux image with something else of your own choosing, provided it's in the right color format and size. Requires a bit of hacking, though.
