Post Graphics problems

Hi

Am having a bit of trouble with video settings on a laptop I installed FC4 on. I've got everything else up and running and X/KDE are fine but I only get 2 low resolutions (64 x 48, 8 x 6).

The laptop is an HP nx9105 and the graphics card that is in it is a:

Nvidia Geforce 4 420 Go 32M

So I went to Nvidia's site and downloaded the drivers from Nvidia's site. I chose the first driver which was listed as:

Linux IA32
Latest Version: 1.0-7676
Archive

I assumed this meant 32-bit Linux distros for the Nvidia family drivers. I downloaded, dropped to console with 'init 3'. and then did a 'sh'

It installed the drivers but then said that there was a problem with my X86Config file. I've never had to mess with the x86 file before because generally I get my gfx auto-detected but am havign problems at this stage.

Can anyone help me please?

Ta

From the text readme file on the driver download page -If you have a working X config file for a different driver (such as the "nv"or "vesa" driver), then simply edit the file as follows.
Remove the line:
Driver "nv"
(or Driver "vesa")
(or Driver "fbdev")
and replace it with the line:
Driver "nvidia"
Remove the following lines:

Load "dri"
Load "GLCore"

In the "Module" section of the file, add the line (if it does not already
exist):

Load "glx"
There are numerous options that may be added to the X config file to tune the
NVIDIA X driver. Please see Appendix D for a complete list of these options.
