graphics in Linux

Why do graphics look so much better on linux than windows? It just seems that graphics are really clean and crisp in linux and in windows theyre just Blaahh......

contrasutra 06-30-2003 11:58 PM

Because everything looks better when its free. :)

Smell that fresh, no liscence fee air. Smells good to be out of the box, doesnt it.

Nicksan 07-01-2003 01:01 PM

Free, lol

Nothing in life is free and anything that can be gotten for free is not worth it. I paid for linux.

contrasutra 07-01-2003 01:57 PM

I meant "free" as in "freedom". :)

Are you saying any distro thats given away isn't good? ;)

Nicksan 07-01-2003 04:22 PM

No distro is given away for free. Theres always some exchange whether its money, work, something promised for the future, a trade of somthing, or just a thank you.

Ive never given Patrick any:
money
work
something traded
or a thankyou. (I know I should, But I haven't)

There is a whole organization called the Free Software Foundation. They think something can be free.

You must realize that linux in general is not a commercial endeavour. Linus started programming just for fun and decided to give it away to be nice.

Probably the higher quality anti-aliasing.

That, and Linux just rocks the world :)

Crashed_Again 07-02-2003 05:38 AM

Rocks my world I'll tell you that!(Don't tell my girlfriend though. She already suspects me having an affair with Linux.)

MasterC 07-02-2003 05:58 AM

Pssst: We all are :D

Nicksan if I walked up to Arbys and they gave me a free sandwich, flat out, just a "here you go, a free sandwich" and I leave, trust me, that is definitely worth having, and more importantly, it was free.

:)

Cool

Nicksan 07-02-2003 06:40 AM

Yea but someone had to make that sandwich for you, someone slaved and spent time and energy to give you something therefore it is not free someone did something to make it, you just took it out of greed and selfishness, and also arby sandwich meat is made from powered beef then shaped into sliced beef.

MasterC 07-02-2003 06:55 AM

;-]

That doesn't make it any less free? Nor does it make the sandwich taste any different. The person making/giving the sandwich to me did it by choice, and I ate it, by choice. All free.

:)

Cool

Mainly just arguing against this post ;)

Cool

He's talking Carl Marx now. Marx says that the only true commodity, is labor, and that someone had to labor for that sandwich (or distro).

Too bad we're not commie pinko's ;)

(just kidding by the way).

Nicksan 07-04-2003 11:12 AM

I think you are commie pinkos, you and your anti american garbage all over cnn and the other commie news networks, If you people want to live like that move to europe.

breakerfall 07-04-2003 11:43 AM

wow..... it's turned political!

Just to keep the peace...

communism looks good on paper
capitolism looks good on paper

They both suck in reality

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
maybe ideas from both would be good ;)
