"previously licensed motherboard and activate the installation with a digital license."

I have to point out that OEM's have different ways to authenticate. Some keys are in bios. I'd use majic jellybean maybe.

In the case of my machine, after preparing an efi partition that windows would accept, Windows installed onto my chosen partition without complaint, It did not ask me for an install key or anything like that

Strange. The Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder reports that my resurrected machine (HP Pavillion 700) has the same Windows 10 license key as do all of my installations (both bare iron and VM) which were an upgrade from Windows 7 with different license keys. I suspect that this license key would be rejected if used for an install.

I did use linux to get the key from a lenovo bios a while back. That was on web someplace.

Not sure why that is. I've used jellybean for quite a number of keys over the years. I guess it is possible that MS doesn't care on some upgrades or jellybean is not providing the correct key???

The OP will know in 30 days if the install is correct.

Doesn't windows nag you anymore, telling you that you have x days to register?

In my case, no. After I disabled cortana and the microphone, it forced me to create a microsoft account (passed when I created a random email). All other prompts I was able to get through with (do it later)

I haven't hear a peep from it. Nothing about antiviruses, nothing about needing a key, trial period, etc (did still download and install updates though). It's much quieter than the original windows install. I've never had such a quiet windows before acutally. So actually now I'm glad that I did this whole thing.

I had installed Windows 10 early last year on a box with no previous windows and needed to provide a key within 30 days. But nothing this time around.
