Got configure: error: "compiler support for __thread is required"

Hi,

The configure command throws the error "compiler support for __thread is required" while trying to compile glibc-2.7 using cygwin.

The configure command is used with the following options set
usr/glibc-2.7/configure --prefix=/usr/tmp
--enable-add-ons=nptl
--host=i686-pc-linux-gnu
--with_binutils=/usr/glibc-2.7/binutils-2.18

I am newbie to linux. Please let me know is there any better solution to compile glibc-2.7 using cygwin

Thanks & Regards
R.Bharathkumar
