Good books about hacking

Well at this moment of my life i am interested in learning about network security, so obviously i need to know about hacking and cracking, so i wanted to know some good books about this stuff, i had already read some books but they are really bad, just showing some vulnerabilities and the way to exploit them but like you can imagine 2 months later they donīt work anymore, so i want books that says the fundamentals and basics about hacking and it would be great if they were easy to find:).

Might not be what you are looking for, but others may find Hacking Linux Exposed as a valuable resource.

:tisk: there is no book that teachs you how to hack. the best way to lear about pen testing is to set up a small lab at home and try to break in.

althought if you feel like reading try the CEH documentation -- is out date it (like all the "hacking documentation" but it will give you the idea.

Hacking: The Art of Exploitation
Hacking cannot be acheived completely through bookwork. You will learn themost through hands on learning. I agree with teh above post, you should set up a small lab. I also realize that you might not know where to start, so heres a good book.

Hacking: The Art of Exploitation
It's written by a security professional, so it should be just what you need. I own a copy, its a great book.

Thanks for the recommendation. I will try to get it.
About the small lab, I have one ^^ linux and windows, but with the books i had no so fun to play with it 'cuz nothing really worked, i scan the ports, use the netbios, get a username, but no passwd, and obviously no way to connect to the computer that's why i gave up with just this books and make this post, also any other ideas like sites or stuff like that, that could be useful would be great.

thanks for again for the recommendation
