Here's a starter ...

I ask you to read this because the "question"
has NO information that might assist in finding
a solution.

Cheers,

Okay that's not what I asked for... I don't appreciate your sarcasm.. My friend really needs to get some work done and Linux isn't allowing him to. If you don't know how to solve the problem then please don't post such messages.

Maybe you should post what he's actually trying to accomplish and we might be of help. But were not really here to persuade people to keep using Linux, were here to answer technical questions about Linux.

How can we help truly though without any details? All I can say right now is, umm.. please don't go back to Windows, Linux is better, which really isn't going to do anything for him is it now?

Details please or have your friend post what he's having problems with here.

Regards.

Well your not going to get any actual solutions or answers til we know what he's trying to do or the problem he is having. There is a milion and one things computers can do, once you tell us what that thing is he's trying, we'll probably be able to help. Until that time, well, there's not much to tell you and you'd be wasting your time asking for help on a problem that could be anything.

Regards.

PS. To start getting results, I'd suggest your next post to be an actual question or just tell your friend to come here and ask.

Once upon a time, a student asked a teacher.

"Sir, my friend is doing homework and he is having some problem. How to solve it?"

"Ok, what is the problem exactly?".

"I don't know sir. Just tell me how to do it."

Please refrain from making assumptions that you don't know are true yet.

If he has windows on the system then :

reconfigure lilo manually and add the windows partition like zo :

shell > liloconfig

choose expert mode

choose begin

choose where to install it to : (If your oses are different hard drives install on floppy
thats what I do )

choose linux
It will give you a list of linux partitons on your system
choose one
Identify it

choose dos
It will give you a list of dos partitons on your system
choose one
Identify it

choose install

That should work.

But... if your friend doesn't have windows on his system he could always install

Wine

I haven't got it to work as of yet ... I think its a slackware problem

but there are lots of people who did get it working and the greatest thing about it
is it will run all windows programs.

Hope I helped

Since you snidely refuse to accept a truth, don't expect a whole lot of help.

While Miyamoto's question could have contained a little extra information
that doesn't mean you have to get in his face.

You could have simply asked him to post a little more information.

Hey guys. Yeah. WindowsBurner is right. There's no reason for you guys to be so rude. I hate Windows as much as you do but my friend really needs it to do his school work. Linux is his only OS so messing with LiLO won't do any good. He wants to wipe out his MDK 9.1 installation altogether. I've already gotten the help I need from another message board so you can close this thread. Thanks.
