I don't want to read the whole thread.. don't know if anyone has already posted this... But put your xp cd in. boot off it... go into Recovery Console and use the fixboot command... take the cd out and reboot the pc..

and then from in windows remove the Linux partition.

safest and easiest way for a beginner

Hello,

@yancek, post #15: There is only one entry for sda1 in /etc/fstab, see listing in post #1.

Replacing "root (hd0,0)" by "rootnoverify (hd0,0)" in /boot/menu.lst (after backing up the original file), rebooting and chosing "Windows" in the GRUB menu yields
Code:
Booting 'Windows 95/98/NT/2000'

rootnoverify (hd0,0)
makeactive
chainloader +1
after which the machine halts.
