gnome-terminal wrong character encoding
Hi,
I cannot display accented letters (french) in console mode (more, pine...) with gnome-terminal. I set LANG to en_US.iso-8859-15 in my .cshrc. Accented letters work fine in regular xterm, but not in gnome-terminal ????!! To make it working I have to set character encoding to western (ISO-8859-1) by hand on each terminal (no way to save this setting?)... Is there a way to make gnome-terminal recognize the "locale" setting? Many thanks in advance, Guillaume |
probably by switching the whole X-wide locale..then restart X. that was the only way I could get my gnome-terminal use iso-8859-15 locale instead of utf8 when I needed it to. I had to configure the locale and in gdm choose that as my "language" (finnish, euro instead of finnish, UTF8)

Thanks for the reply, but how can I switch the whole X-wide to locale??
