Gnome or Kde which is faster?

I have a old p.c that I'm trying to run linux on... I already have SuSE 9.0 on dual boot with XP Proffesional on my newer faster machine, however I want a stand alone linux machine so I don't have to switch.

System Specs;

350 Mhz PII
356 MB Ram or there abouts... 256 + 128
Riva TNT 2 Graphics Card
20 gig + 6.4 gig HD

with broadband distributed over router...

I've got SuSE 9.0 up and running but it's painfully slow in KDE3, slower than even Windows XP was on the machine. Can anyone recommend ways of making it work faster... or what kind of software setup you would recommend for this type of machine. Also is Gnome less resource consuming than KDE?

i almost stayed with Gnome after trying it once. *almost*

gnome will use less resources, but only marginally so. if you need a desktop-ish window manager, try icewm or the newest xfce. when i installed SuSE 9.0, i was given xfce 3 (but version 4 is a total rebuild and pretty nice).
