Gnome: make volume hotkeys alter PCM chanel instead of MASTER (ALSA)

my sound card (nForce3-250gb) is not fully supported by linux alsa-drivers.
but with the latest version (1.9b) full support is very nearly here.

The one thing i can find that doesnt work is the MASTER volume channel in alsa-mixer.

this only works in the capacity of ON or OFF.

However the volume scale on the PCM channel does work.. i can change the output volume by changing the PCM volume.

I have a Volume UP/DOWN hot-key on my keyboard, i have set it up as voume up.down in gnome's hot-key manager.

the problem is that it is changing the volume of the MASSTER channel..
pushing the keys causes the alsa-mixer slidfer to move up and down, but does not alter the volume.

How can i set the hot-kys in gnome to act on the PCM alsa channel instead of the MASTER channel.

Gnome 2.10 Amd64 Gentoo 2005.1

Thanks.

Hello.

I've been working on the same thing. If I figure anything out, I'll be sure to let you know. But please don't expect something soon . . .I'm a bit of a :newbie: when it comes to linux. :)
