Gnome login screen in Suse 9.3

Hi,

I am trying to change my login screen from the default green one that comes with Suse 9.3

I have tried the following: Applications -> System -> Configuration -> Login Screen Setup

I have changed the login screen to the one that I prefer. I have even installed new themes. I have also deleted the default login screen.

Nothing works. I still get the original green login screen, even if I've selected another. Any ideas on how to work around this? Many thanks!

I am guessing but I think you may be using a different display manager other than gdm possibly kdm.

With that in mind, you might try checking your /etc/rc.conf file under :

# What display manager do you use ? [ xdm | gdm | kdm | entrance ]
DISPLAYMANAGER="gdm"

If it is set to kdm you might try changeing it to gdm.

I just tried changeing this setting on my system, Gentoo, and it worked however I had to reboot before the change took effect. Just restarting X did not do the trick.
