Gnome Gdm

I have just installed GNOME's gdm so i can have a better looking log on screen, but for some reason, it is not executed when i boot up linux.

I am currently using Mandrake 10 official, and have installed the gdm, setup the software using gdmsetup, but I still get the standard mandrake graphical login screen.

DO i need to alter a config file somewhere and if I do, does anyone know where it is?

I am using KDE as my desktop environment, but GNOME is installed, so I wouldnt have thought this would be a problem?

Thanks in advance

What does the file "/etc/X11/default-display-manager" say? It contains a path to your default display manager, and you probably want it to be "/usr/bin/gdm". (I hope for you it is the same file on a mandrake system, because I'm a Debian user...)

Hope this helps...

Find the file inittab into you box. It is usually in /etc. Edit the run level. Done!
