gnome desktop in fluxbox

I was using fluxbox as my window manager, and then I started up nautilus to try it out. Not only did nautilus load, but a large portion of the gnome desktop loaded as well... it changed my background, and it gave me the gnome popup menu if i rightclicked on the background. Is there any way to make it so only the program starts, and not all the other stuff

run nau from an Xterm with --no-desktop flag
