GNOME and KDE

I was thinking of using GNOME or KDE with my red hat distro, GNOME is the default and the one that the book I got works with. If I choose KDE will the position of links and things like that change? Will I follow the instructions of my book only to find out that because of my using KDE that things are in different places? Or are tools different? Will I have to use a different web browser?

GUI interface difference, programs difference but you still can choose to use programs between kde and gnome. default browser for kde is konqueror, while gnome uses mozilla

But you can install Mozilla with KDE and set it as defualt if you want. I prefer KDE to gnome, because i found KDE to be more configurable than gnome.

nah you prefer it cos it looks more like windoze :D

oh and gnomes default browser is galeon, not mozilla. mozilla is nothing to do with gnome, i think it used to be set as a few defaults before they had their own one tho.

Where is what in the menu depends on your distro. They all put in their specific stuff. You can normally use all the gnomeapp's with kde and vice versa.

I preffer Gnome, you can make your desktop look way cooler than with KDE. The best you can make KDE look like is like Windows, :p, well not really, but KDE is known for being most "look like Windoze".
And I like more the little Foot than the K, :p
