Gnome 2.4 puts everything on desktop?

I am using RedHat 9.0 and upgraded Gnome to 2.4

Now, since I believe Gnome 2.4 does not use the '.gnome-desktop' folder, everything seems to be defaulting to right on my desktop.

Ximian Evolution for example, now places my 'evolution' folder containing all my mail stuff right on my desktop. Is there a way to change were everything defaults to, or at least where Evolution places that folder? I haven't been able to find a setting in preferences that dictates that.

Thanks in advance --

open up gconf and look for a pref under the nautilus heading that toggles "use home folder for desktop" on and off...

Where is that?

where is gconf? I tried running it from terminal, but didn't work. Is there a certain place I should be looking? Or command I should run?

I think it's under system tools? It's called Configuration Editor or something like that...
