Gnome 2.4 Install

I have been reading alot of posts and have been searching the internet for how tos but I just dont get how to upgrade from 2.0 to 2.4.

Is this possible to do while running gnome?

How do I download gnome and compile the sources?

What else am I missing!?

I suggest you wait until packages are made available by your distribution provider or Ximian, but if you want to be on the edge, look no further than Garnome: http://www.gnome.org/~jdub/garnome/

You can also use apt-rpm for RH to download and install 'em. You can go onto the gnome board at gnomesupport.org/fourms and ask on there. Someone will give you the apt-get repository list for it; I'm sorry I'd give ya it if I remembered it.

If you really want to build 'em from source you can get the sources from ftp.gnome.org and you can read the notes about gnome 2.4 @ www.gnome.org (somewhere in there they have the build order).
