gmplayer gives me this error .....

Hi. I can launch a wmv fine using > 'mplayer somefile.wmv' but when I launch
gmplayer using 'gmplayer somefile.wmv' i get this and a fatal error >

open: No such device
vo_mga: Couldn't open /dev/mga_vid
Error opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device.

the gui launches but freezes.
Also when i just type gmplayer it launches fine and i use the 'open' button
on the GUI and it pops open a window where I can see a directory containing
the .wmv files but everything on the GUI doesn't respond to mouse click.

thanks

you want to set a proper video output. mga is a pretty low level, last resort output normally in mplaeyr (acutally a really good driver for matrox cards, but seldom useful for most people).

do you mean XV?
I have NVIDIA Gforce2 MX 32 MB and I have the closed source drivers
installed.

here's some output of a wmv I just played with
'mplayer somefile.wmv'
It played fine (NON-GUI) and I had audio
It looks as though it is using X11 instead of vo_mga as it can't open it
but it seems to play it fine
