Lightbulb Giving support to the Open Source

Hello everybody.

We are opening a new hosting company with the compromise to support the open source community through our weOS program.

When you use our service you can choose to give support to any FLOSS project that you choose. We also give a part of the payment to the FSF and other key Open Source solutions.

Take a look at the full proposal and let us know what you think.

We are working very hard at making this a real and significant contribution, we are Open Source advocates and hope we can truly contribute back to it.

Together we can make a better open source.

Thanks for your time.
Felipe

Any feedback?

With your help we can make it something really good, but we need to know what you think.

The idea seems commendable but maybe you could clear up the "help" part. That is if "help" means other things than buying a hosting package. As for the sponsored OSS list I don't see why one would sink money into Drupal or Joomla and such.

I will clarify what we mean by Help in the website, it is economic help basically, by directing part of the payment towards the projects and hopefully giving them exposure.

Yes, Drupal and Joomla are quite big right now, we are working in order to get in touch with other projects, we used those as examples because a lot of people now them, we will be adding more to that list soon.

And actually, we will not be supporting applications such as MySql or even Red Hat, which are very big and fully commercial now.

Thanks a lot for your feedback!
