Getting speakers to work

I have managed to get sound using ALSA, but would like to have full use of my Cambridge 5 piece system. How do I go about getting Mandrake to recognize my soundcard? It is a Soundblaster PCI512. Any Suggestions would be appreciated

Are you currently bypassing an on-board sound card?
If so, check /etc/modules.conf and make sure you are not loading multiple sound drivers upon boot.

I have had cases with Mandrake not getting any sound if I dont disable/delte one of my sound dirver aliases in this file.

This file will also tell you if the correct driver is being used for your card. You may need to manually install the driver if it loading something inappropriate.

Hope this helps a little.
