getting grub to see windows

G'day
Having some difficulty getting grub to start my windowsxp.

I had to reinstall my linux from scratch onto my brand new 320gb sata hdd but my previous Windows on my other sata hdd doesn't seem to be detected properly by the grub.
So far, only way I can startup my winxp is by changing the startup order in the bios at reboot and vice versa with linux.
At bootup, grub does show the windows option but that doesn't seem to work. Any suggestions/help?

cheers

I will make a wild guess that linux is on sda, and windows is on sdb.

If so, perhaps this grub.conf entry will work:
Code:
title Windows XP
        rootnoverify (hd1,0)
        map (hd0) (hd1)
        map (hd1) (hd0)
        chainloader +1
--- rod.

Thanks rod, but did you meant it like:

Code:
title Windows XP
        rootnoverify (sda,0)
        map (sda0) (sda1)
        map (sdb1) (sdb0)
        chainloader +1
??

Hello Rod, thx for your solution. My Windows was installed on sdc
I just change rootnoverify (hd1,0) to (hd2,0) and it works.

Would you mind explaining what your code does?
Thank you very much.
Henry

Code:
title Windows XP
        rootnoverify (hd1,0)
        map (hd0) (hd1)
        map (hd1) (hd0)
        chainloader +1
--- rod.[/QUOTE]

Hey Rod, My XP was installed on sdc but it's actually hd1
Please ignore my previous post.
I've also found grub documentation if anyone wants to know about more
on grub commands.
