I found my soloution

Mandrake 9.0 with a soundblaster live will give me what I want.

No. I have decided I hate all onboard nics.

hehe

It does work with my linksys though.

I went back to 9.0, loaded the nvaudio module and im off!

I love linux, now I can get down to the good stuff.

its a shame you had to run into such problems you're first time with linux... however the next time you run into a similiar problem you'll be ahead of the game.

now if winex would just work like its supposed to...

Wine Is Not an Emulator=WINE

"Wine is an Open Source implementation of the Windows API on top of X and Unix.

Think of Wine as a Windows compatibility layer. Wine does not require Microsoft Windows, as it is a completely alternative implementation consisting of 100% Microsoft-free code, but it can optionally use native system DLLs if they are available. whether it is or it isn't... it does the job of one.

so in a word...


yes

(for games though I'd check out winex at transgaming.com it supports (at least partially) directx as well as winblows)
