Gentoo on PowerMac 7500, cd won't boot

I'm having a problem booting the Gentoo LiveCD on this mac. I've installed BootX, configured it according to the Gentoo FAQ, but when I try to boot the CD through BootX but I get a message that says:

">> Attemtpting to mount CD:- /newroot/dev/cdroms/*
>> Attempting to mount CD:- /newroot/dev/ide/cd/*
>> Attempting to mount CD:- /newroot/dev/sr0
>> Attempting to mount CD:- /newroot/dev/sd*

Could not find CD to boot, something else needed!

mount: Mounting devfs on /dev failed: No such device
Error openingf file: ".devfsd" No such file or directory"

Thanks.

Your booting the ppc cd right? Dumb question but is the cd burned correctly? Do you have the .iso file on the cd or a bunch of files?

That's alright, it's not a stupid question. Yes, I'm booting from a PPC cd which I burned using K3B from an .iso, so I'm pretty sure the CD is not at fault. Still, it won't boot and I get the following message. I should add however that my hardware clock is kind of messed up (which I discovered recently). I'll have to replace the battery. Could this be causing my probs? Thanks.
