Hi,
though I consider myself quite an experienced Linux User I just stumbled about a rather strange error:
I can start X as root and I can log in as root via gdm. Everything works fine. But as soon as I start X with my normal user or log in as a normal user via gdm it terminates instantly.
No errors. gdm then displays a message that the session lasted less than 10 seconds and that there must be an error.
But all the logs are fine.
I also tried starting 'startx' with a program to execute as parameter but that produced a message about wrong parameters to xterm.
Then I restored my old home directory from my previous installation which I knew worked flawless (I migrated from debian to gentoo) but that also didn't help.
Do you maybe know about some user rights I may have to set on some files? That's the only thing I can think about...
My gfx board is a NVidia Geforce and I emerged the nvidia-glx and nvidia-kernel packages.
clueless greetingz
