gcc (easy question)

hey everytime i try to compile something it can't find gcc...
so I have to type "CC=/usr/bin/gcc" and then "export CC" every single time that I want to compile something...
how can I make it so I don't have to do this? so i can just ./configure

gcc -v gives me 3.2.1.... but I don't have that installed... I have slack so its 2.95.3..... what the?????

K nevermind... its really screwed up...
its giving me a "configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C++ compiler cannot create executables." and I don't know what that is .. even if i point it to gcc... any way that I can make my system realize that gcc 3.2.1 is not installed and use the one that I have?

The error you're getting:
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C++ compiler cannot create executables.
Is telling you your problem is not with gcc. C code is different from C++ code. They use different compilers. Specifically, standard C uses gcc. C++ uses g++. Make sure g++ is installed on your system.
