funny characters in man pages

Well I know a long time ago I had some funny characters in the man pages on a redhat 8 machine. I know I had to change something in the /etc/profile.d/lang.sh file, but I can not remember what it was now. I was wondering if anyone out there knew how to get rid of all those funny characters in the man pages by changing that lang.sh file, or an easier way if possible. Thanks for the help

You can do:

export LANG=C

That will fix it temporarily. To fix it permanently you can add that line to your /etc/bashrc

Thanks for the help that did it! I was wondering do you edit the bashrc file in /etc instead of your home directory so that it will work for every user?

Could do. Also, for anyone else who happens to read this, I still get the bad characters when I print a manpage. Anyone know how to fix that?!?
