Question ftp users (strict access)

is there a way to keep an ftp user in his/her home directory only?

prevent them from navigating around in other directories.

On a side note, when I use port forwarding with my router, does the Fedora firewall basically become useless? I unchecked all the services, but it still allows FTP, and SSH, etc.

Thanks,
Jeff

Use vsftpd, it has options in its config to chroot users to their own home directory.. and many other options as well. It stands for Very Secure FTP Daemon.

yup...I found it. I just added the user(s) to the /etc/vsftpd.chroot_users, and uncommented the "chroot_list_enable=YES" in the vsftpd.conf file.
