FTP Problems

Hello all,
I set up my ftp in red hat and it was working great for a while. Now all sudden it seems to hang when I try sending or receiving files or getting directory information. It’s behind a router and the firewall is routing port 21 to the correct IP. But it works fine if I use WS_FTP PRO to connect to it. Also works fine when I connect to it on the LAN.

Thanks for the help

FTP uses 2 data streams. up/down for commands, and up/down for transfers. if the server is running behind a router, you will need to open a range of ports for use in pasv mode on the router. you will also need to properly configure your server to use those specific ports. In Pure-FTPd the paramter is: -p 64000:65000 (for ports 64000-65000).
