FTP from webpage

Hi Guys,

I'm currently creating a web page that will allow users to input data, this is then manipulated through a perl script and pumped into a pdf document which is created from the same perl script. Once the document has been created I would like the user to be able to download it directly from the webpage. I have used some cgi before but never for file transfer so am unsure about the best way to do this. Please could you offer any opinions on the best way to achieve this, or at least point me in the right dirction on what I should be reading up on?

Cheers,

if the file is created into a location that the webpage can access then just put it into the page as a link. No need for ftp anywhere.

i think it is not a good idea to try to automate ftp since it is designed for human intervention (i.e.- prompts for hostname, username, password, site ...). scp is designed for automated file transfer and has the added bonus of running over ssh private key encryption.
