ok, im pretty new to linux, im running RH8 and i want to setup a decent firewall, and an FTP server. Are there any texts online that are worth trusting and an FTP server thats fairly easy to use for a noob who doesnt no much more than how to use the desktop switcher?
If you want a more flexible FTP server than vsftpd is use ProFTPd . From a performance point of view though I archived 64 MBit / s with vsftpd ... I didn't even reach 50 MBit / s with ProFTPd!
guarddog firewall for linux is pretty good, go to google and search for guarddog, it's fairly easy so setup. and just enable ftp stuff when your setting up your firewall.. and i have trouble setting up a ftp server too, hehe, i can't switch the port from 21 to something like 27016...i change it in the proftpd.conf but still doesn't work...
